Here at Celebrities In Marbella we are pleased (and very proud) to bring you another exclusive interview. This time it is with Wayne Lineker (brother of England superstar Gary) who launched the hugely successful Linekers Bars with his first one back in 1986.

And reading between the lines I think there might be a little middle eastern adventure coming soon..lol

1) Linekers has become one of the most successful bars in Puerto Banus but what originally gave you the idea and why?

I was working on the markets but they were going down hill and at the time Gary was getting very famous and had just won the golden boot in Mexico so i decided to take advantage of my now very famous 2nd name..it was then i had the idea of opening a sports/fun pub theme and decided to do this and call it Linekers. I moved to Tenerife and opened my first one in 1986 …. The rest is history!!!

2) Linekers is now in lots of different locations and has extended to other venues like TIBU. How many locations do you now cover and what is next for Linekers (or Wayne Lineker)?

We cover around 18 locations and businesses and have 2 very very exciting projects coming up but I’m not allowed to say what just yet.

3) What is your most memorable Linekers moment and why?

The 1990 world cup game against Cameroon, there were literally 1000′s of people in Linekers Tenerife stretching out to the streets and beyond. We won 3 – 2 and Gary scored 2.  They asked him after the game what he was thinking when he took the all important penalty. His reply in front of half the nation was  “All I could think about was my brother Wayne in his bar in Tenerife and how nervous he would be”.  You can imagine the roars in the bar.. Amazing stuff!!!

4) You have lots of celeb mates but who would you say is the most outrageous?

Haha ok well my most outrageous celeb friend is without doubt Gazza. Funniest and craziest man I have ever met. We have had some mad nights out together. My closest celeb friend would probably be Calum Best as we spent a whole summer together 4 years ago and was the craziest of my life

5) You travel to lots of different locations and although this is putting you on the spot, what is your favourite Linekers location?

That’s easy IBIZA  I love the island and love the vibe. Marbella is 2nd . Tenerife holds the most memories though

6) If you could pick the ultimate location for a new Linekers bar where would you choose?

Dubai!!! and I’m not telling anymore haha
